The build-up to The Oscars is one of the busiest times of the year in LA. Here Louise Roe looks back at the parties and reveals the best places to pick up fashion's most beautiful buys, before heading out for a night on the tiles.
By nightfall, the rain was pouring outside, but I refused to let the weather spoil the outfit I'd been planning: a one-shoulder black dress from Very.co.uk, gold Brian Atwood pumps, rose gold rings and bangles by a hot new brand called Hoorsenbuhs, plus a dark golden brown clutch by Miche - a new bag company which I have to tell you about..................Ok so back to Miche, the handbag label I mentioned earlier. I just discovered it very recently and, in a nutshell, for a fraction of what you might spend on a normal leather bag, you get a closet-full of handbags. You're able to change the design, colour and straps on your tote or clutch to suit whatever dress, shoes or jacket you're wearing. It's a pretty genius concept: you get a 'shell' or inner bag which comes in different sizes, and then you pick different covers which slip on and off the shell with a magnet. I promise they look very chic, I just bought a mustard tone (very 1970s, which I'm obsessed with at the moment), a leopard-print for nights out, a bright turquoise for spring and a patent black moc-crocskin clutch that I wore with a long floral dress to the SAG Awards.
